Remove Noindex and Non-Canonical Pages from Sitemap
Shopify
Shopify automatically generates a sitemap for your store, but it doesn’t provide a direct way to exclude noindex or non-canonical pages. To achieve this, you can use an app like “XML Sitemap & NoIndex Manager” or “Sitemap & NoIndex Manager” from the Shopify App Store. These apps allow you to manage your sitemap and exclude specific pages.
Steps:
- Install the “XML Sitemap & NoIndex Manager” app from the Shopify App Store.
- Open the app and navigate to the sitemap settings.
- Locate the pages you want to exclude and mark them as noindex or non-canonical.
- Save your changes and regenerate the sitemap.
WooCommerce (WordPress)
In WooCommerce, you can use the Yoast SEO plugin to manage your sitemap and exclude noindex or non-canonical pages.
Steps:
- Install and activate the Yoast SEO plugin from the WordPress Plugin Repository.
- Navigate to SEO > Search Appearance in your WordPress dashboard.
- Go to the Content Types tab and locate the post types you want to exclude.
- Set the Show [Post Type] in search results? option to No for the post types you want to exclude.
- For non-canonical pages, navigate to the individual page or post editor, scroll down to the Yoast SEO meta box, and set the canonical URL to the desired URL.
- Save your changes and Yoast SEO will automatically update your sitemap.
