Are there many redirects reported?
Redirects are essential for maintaining SEO value when URLs change, but too many redirects can slow down your site and negatively impact user experience and search engine rankings. Here’s how to check and manage redirects on Shopify and WooCommerce:
Shopify
- Access Redirects: Go to your Shopify admin panel, click on Online Store > Navigation > URL Redirects.
- Review Redirects: Here, you can see a list of all the redirects. Check if there are any unnecessary or excessive redirects.
- Remove Unnecessary Redirects: Click on the redirect you want to remove and then click Delete URL Redirect.
- Set Up New Redirects: If you need to add a new redirect, click Add URL Redirect, enter the old URL and the new URL, and click Save.
WooCommerce
- Access Redirects: Install and activate a redirection plugin like Redirection. Go to Tools > Redirection.
- Review Redirects: In the Redirection plugin dashboard, you can see a list of all the redirects. Check for any unnecessary or excessive redirects.
- Remove Unnecessary Redirects: Click on the redirect you want to remove and then click Delete.
- Set Up New Redirects: To add a new redirect, enter the source URL and the target URL in the respective fields and click Add Redirect.
By regularly reviewing and managing your redirects, you can ensure that your eCommerce site remains fast and SEO-friendly.
